Getting started

What is Pipcue?

Pipcue is a set of five tools for MetaTrader 5 traders behind one login. TradingView alerts become trades on your MT5 accounts, a trade copier mirrors your manual trades between your own accounts, we can run your MT5 on our Windows server, a journal records every closed trade, and trading rules cap what alerts may do. Every plan includes every tool.

What is the Journal?

The Journal is a calendar of your closed trades. It fills itself from the deal history your EA syncs, so alert trades, manual trades and trades from other EAs all appear. Each day shows net P&L and trade count, and you can add notes, tags, a mood and screenshots. It is a record of what happened, not advice.

How does a TradingView alert reach my MT5?

You give TradingView our webhook URL and a short JSON message that carries your license key and secret. When the alert fires, our backend checks it, signs a command and queues it for every online terminal on that license. Our Expert Advisor polls about once a second, verifies the signature and places the order with your broker. The whole trip usually takes about a second.

What do I need to get started?

You need an MT5 account with any broker, a copy of MetaTrader 5 running on a computer that stays on (or let us host it), and a TradingView plan that supports webhook alerts. Sign up, download our EA, attach it to one chart and you are connected.

How long does setup take?

Most people are connected in ten to fifteen minutes. Downloading and attaching the EA takes a few minutes, and the Setup page walks you through each click. A test alert at the end confirms the whole path works before any real order is placed.

I do not have a TradingView strategy yet. Is this still useful?

Yes. Alerts can come from any TradingView condition, not only a Pine strategy, so a simple price cross or indicator alert works. The trade copier, hosted MT5 and journal do not need TradingView at all. Many traders start with the journal and copier and add alerts later.

Brokers & platforms

Which brokers are supported?

Any broker that offers MetaTrader 5. Our EA runs inside your own terminal and talks to your broker the same way a manual order does, so there is nothing broker-specific to set up. Demo and live accounts both work.

Does it work with MetaTrader 4?

No. Pipcue is built for MetaTrader 5 only. If your broker offers both, open an MT5 account to use it.

Can I run several MT5 accounts at once?

Yes. Every terminal running our EA on the same license set receives every alert. Your plan sets how many MT5 accounts can be connected at the same time: 2 on Pair, 5 on Desk and 10 on Firm. Each account can use its own lot multiplier.

Can the trade copier copy to someone else's account?

No. The copier only works between accounts connected to your own license set. It is for mirroring your own manual trades, for example from a live account to a demo or across brokers, not for selling signals.

Can I use the copier with prop-firm accounts?

Technically yes, as long as the prop-firm account runs MT5 and you connect it yourself. Read the firm's rules first. Some firms forbid copying, EAs or identical trades across accounts, and breaking those rules is on you.

Can one alert trade different sizes on different accounts?

Yes. Set a lot multiplier per MT5 account on the Terminals page. The default is 1.0. The alert's lots are multiplied, rounded to the broker's lot step, raised to the minimum and capped at the maximum. The same alert can trade 0.01 on one account and 0.05 on another.

Can I run several strategies on one account?

Yes. Attach one EA per chart and give each its own Strategy ID (the default is 700001; use 700002, 700003 and so on). Add strategy_number to an alert to target one EA only. Close and modify alerts only touch trades opened by the EA with that ID.

Why do my manual trades appear in Executions?

The EA syncs your account's deal history every 30 seconds so the Journal is complete. Manual trades are labelled Manual and trades from other EAs show their magic number. Nothing is done with them; they are only recorded.

My broker adds a suffix to symbols. Will XAUUSD still work?

Yes. The EA maps the TradingView symbol to your broker's name, including prefixes and suffixes such as XAUUSD.c or XAUUSDm. If a match cannot be found, put the broker's exact symbol name in the alert instead and it will be used as is.

Trading & execution

Which actions can an alert send?

Four: BUY, SELL, CLOSE and MODIFY. BUY and SELL open market orders with optional stop-loss, take-profit, trailing, ladder and breakeven. CLOSE closes trades by a selector such as symbol, last trade or all, optionally a percentage. MODIFY moves the stop-loss or take-profit of open trades.

How do I set a stop-loss and take-profit?

Add sl and tp to the alert. By default they are distances in points from the entry. Set sl_type or tp_type to pips or price to use those instead; the two are independent. Price stops must sit on the losing side of the entry or the trade is refused with a clear reason.

Where are trailing stops and ladders configured?

In the alert message, not in the EA inputs. Each alert carries its own trail, trail_trigger or tp_levels, so different alerts can manage trades differently. The Alert templates tab on the TV Setup page gives you ready-made messages for each case.

How does the trailing stop work?

Set trail to the trailing distance in points. Optionally set trail_trigger to the profit in points that must be reached before trailing starts; leave it out to trail right away. The EA moves the stop tick by tick, never moves it backwards, and resumes after a terminal restart.

How do multiple take-profits work?

Use tp_levels with a list like 200:50,400:50: each entry is a distance in points and the percentage of the position to close there. Distances must increase and the percentages must add up to 100. The furthest level is also sent to the broker as the take-profit, so the final leg closes even if the terminal is offline.

Can I close part of a trade?

Yes. Send a CLOSE alert with close_percent, for example 50 to close half of what is open now. The amount is rounded down to the lot step. If the part to close or the remainder would be below the broker's minimum lot, the alert is refused with partial_below_min_lot. Stops, trailing and ladder on the remainder are unchanged.

Can the stop move to breakeven automatically?

Yes. Add breakeven with a profit in points to the entry alert and the EA moves the stop to the entry price once that profit is reached. You can also send a MODIFY alert with sl set to breakeven. Breakeven never loosens a stop, and price must be past the entry by more than the broker's minimum stop distance.

Why did my ladder get refused on a small position?

Every leg of the ladder must be at least the broker's minimum lot, usually 0.01. A 0.01 position cannot be split, and a 50/30/20 ladder needs at least 0.05 lots. Use fewer levels or a larger size.

How is the lot size decided?

Either send a fixed lots value, or send risk with risk_type set to money or percent and risk_base set to balance or equity, plus an sl. The EA then sizes the trade so the stop risks that amount. If the result is below the minimum lot the trade is skipped rather than over-risked. The estimate ignores spread, commission and slippage.

What happens when a trade fails?

The failure is listed on the Failures page with the broker's own return code and text, or with our reason if the alert was refused before reaching the broker. Alerts held back by your trading rules appear there too, marked Skipped with the rule that stopped them. Nothing is retried silently.

Is there a limit on alerts or trades?

No limit on alerts. Your plan limits how many MT5 accounts can be connected at once, and you can have up to 10 license sets. Trading rules let you set your own caps on trades per day, lots, risk and daily loss.

How fast is execution?

An alert usually reaches your terminal in about a second. The EA polls our backend roughly once per second and places the order as soon as the signed command arrives. The copier mirrors manual trades within about one to two seconds. Your broker's fill speed is on top of that.

Setup & TradingView

Do I need a paid TradingView plan?

Yes. Webhook alerts are a paid TradingView feature, so a free TradingView account cannot send alerts to us. Any TradingView tier with webhooks enabled works. The copier, hosted MT5 and journal do not need TradingView.

How do I install the EA?

Download the compiled .ex5 file from the Setup page and drop it into the MQL5/Experts folder of your terminal. Attach it to one chart of any symbol and timeframe, paste your license key and webhook secret into the inputs, and allow WebRequest to our backend URL under Tools, Options, Expert Advisors. Nothing needs compiling.

What do I put in the TradingView alert?

Tick Webhook URL in the alert dialog and paste the URL shown on the TV Setup page. Paste one of our alert templates into the message box; it is already filled with your license key and secret. Change the action, lots and stops to suit your setup and save the alert.

Do I need AutoTrading on?

Yes. The AutoTrading button in the terminal toolbar must be on and Allow Algo Trading must be ticked in the EA's settings. When both are set the EA icon in the chart corner turns blue. A grey icon means the EA is attached but not allowed to trade.

How do I test without placing a real trade?

Press Send test alert on the Setup page. It sends a signed command through the whole path: our backend, your EA, the signature check and the broker symbol match, then stops just before placing an order. Progress chips show each step. Test alerts ignore trading rules and never count towards your trades-per-day limit.

Security & safety

How do you stop someone else sending trades to my account?

Every alert must carry your license key and webhook secret, and every command we queue is signed with an HMAC your EA verifies before acting. A forged or tampered message fails the check and is logged as hmac_mismatch. Each alert also carries an id so a repeated delivery is executed only once.

What if my webhook secret leaks?

Rotate it on the License page. A new secret is issued at once and alerts signed with the old one stop validating. Update the secret in your TradingView alerts and in the EA inputs. Rotation is recorded in your audit log.

Can you withdraw money or see my broker login?

No. Our EA can only place and manage trades inside your terminal; it has no access to deposits or withdrawals. If you host MT5 with us, your trading password is encrypted with a server-side key, decrypted only when the terminal launches and never shown again. We never ask for your broker portal login.

Billing & plans

How much does it cost?

Pair is $28 a month for 2 MT5 accounts, Desk is $44 for 5 and Firm is $62 for 10. Yearly billing costs ten times the monthly price, so two months are free. Every plan has every tool and up to 10 license sets.

What counts as an MT5 account?

We count distinct MT5 account numbers that have reported in within the last 10 minutes, not terminals or license sets. A live and a demo account running together count as two. An account frees its slot after 10 quiet minutes; a restart or reboot keeps it. MT5s hosted with us running your own EAs do not count.

What happens if I connect more accounts than my plan allows?

The newest extra account keeps reporting in but receives no alerts. It is shown as blocked on the Terminals page with the reason. You are never charged automatically; upgrade on the Billing page if you want the slot.

Can I change plans later?

Yes. An upgrade starts immediately at the full price of the new plan. A downgrade or a switch between monthly and yearly takes effect at the end of the current period, and the Billing page shows the date.

How can I pay?

By card through our card payment provider, or with PayPal. Prices are in US dollars; customers in India are charged in rupees through card checkout. We never store your card details.

How do I cancel?

Open Billing and choose Cancel. You keep full access until the end of the period you have paid for and nothing further is charged. You can delete your account afterwards if you want your data removed.

Do you offer refunds?

No. Payments are final, which is why we offer a 7-day free trial with no card required. The exceptions are a duplicate charge for the same period or where the law in your country requires a refund. See the Cancellation and Refund policy for details.

How does the free trial work?

The trial gives you 7 days of the Pair plan, so 2 MT5 accounts and every tool, with no card needed. It starts when you first open the dashboard or create a license. When it ends, your terminals stop receiving alerts but the dashboard stays readable until you subscribe.

Where do I find my invoices?

On the Billing page under Billing history. Each payment has a date, amount, provider and an invoice link. Invoices for Indian customers include GST details. A receipt is also emailed after each charge.

Account & data

Can I change my username?

Yes, from Settings. A username is 3 to 10 characters and must be unique. One is generated for you at sign-up so you can change it whenever you like.

Can I change my email address?

Yes, if you signed up with email and password. Edit it in Settings and confirm the link we send to the new address; the change applies only after that. Google sign-in accounts manage their email through Google.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings, choose Delete account and type your email to confirm. Your profile, licenses, terminals, executions, journal, screenshots and any hosted MT5 instances are deleted permanently. An active subscription must be cancelled first. We keep invoices for tax reasons and anonymised audit entries.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Settings has a Download my data button that produces a JSON bundle of your profile, subscription, licenses, terminals, executions, failures, journal and audit log. It is generated on request and noted in your audit log.

Troubleshooting

My terminal shows offline. What should I check?

Check that MT5 is running, the EA is still on its chart and the terminal has internet. The EA reports in every minute, so a terminal is marked offline when nothing has arrived for about two minutes. Make sure WebRequest to our backend URL is allowed; a failed request shows in the Experts tab. EA versions before 1.07 also showed offline while markets were closed, so update if you are on an old build.

The EA icon on my chart is grey. Why?

Grey means the EA is attached but not allowed to trade. Turn on the AutoTrading button in the toolbar and make sure Allow Algo Trading is ticked in the EA's Common tab. The icon turns blue when both are set.

My alerts fire in TradingView but no trade opens. Why?

Look at the Failures page first; it shows whether the alert arrived, was refused or was skipped by a rule. Common causes are a wrong secret, the terminal being offline, the EA's Strategy ID not matching strategy_number, or a trading rule such as hours or allowed symbols. Send a test alert from the Setup page to confirm the path end to end.

How do I get help?

Email us at [email protected]. Inside the dashboard, the Ask AI panel knows your setup and can explain failures and templates.
